Delicate, almost translucent flowers arranged in a glass or vase are a recurring motif for Austrian painter Michael Ziegler. In 2020, these watercolor paintings opened up a new approach to painting for him after a long break. Since then, he has returned to the theme and technique again and again. The result is an ongoing series that has now grown to several dozen paintings. Starting from "almost simple compositions" (Ziegler) in bright, matt colors, the painter lends his flower paintings a subversive power. Complemented by examples from Ziegler's other painting cycles, they unfold their effect at KiS - Kunst in Seefeld in the interplay of light and weightlessness, sketchiness and fragility - a "sensual event" for the painter as well as for the viewer.
