Thomas Schütte’s work always centres on people. His pieces possess both weight and lightness, yet they also reveal damage, power dynamics, fears, dependencies, and figures that are sinister, bizarre and beautiful. Schütte studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1973 to 1981 under Fritz Schwegler and Gerhard Richter. Today, he is regarded as one of the most significant contemporary artists and his work is held in major museums and collections worldwide.
